Two out of three patients infected with Marburg Virus recovered following a multinational rescue effort extending from Johannesburg, to C.D.C. Atlanta, and Marburg Germany, where survivors from the original outbreak in a Laboratory in Marburg were identified, and their serum flown from Germany to Johannesburg. Only following the administration of serum from the Marburg Survivors, did the two surviving patients show reversal of multi-organ failure and D.I.C.
